Brendan Monger

Originally from Canberra, Brendan graduated from WAAPA in 1996 with a BA in Musical Theatre. Brendan has thirty-two years experience as a professional actor, singer, composer, director and musical director, with his career spanning stage, television, cabaret, radio and film – as well as playing both the piano bar and club circuit. He’s written original scores for stage, screen and radio, and worked as resident Director / Musical Director for various theatre companies around Australia. He has also taught and directed in major institutions all around Australia, including: The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP), The Actors College of Theatre and Television (ACTT) and The Actor’s Centre. Brendan founded, performed with and wrote the vocal / musical arrangements for the popular Sydney group “Vocal Design”. His theatre credits include: “Urinetown – the musical” (Sydney Theatre Company), “Easter Parade” (Gordon Frost), “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” (Rattling Tongues Theatre Company), “The Taming Of The Shrew” (Glenn Elston), “The Villain Of Flowers”, “The Seagull”, “Grand Hotel”, “Sweeney Todd” and “Little Shop Of Horrors”. Since graduating, Brendan has worked extensively in television with over 50 TV Commercials (both national and international) and guest roles in “All Saints”, “Home & Away”, “Backberner”, “Chaser” and “Behind The Scenes with Tony Squires”. He also starred in the Australian feature film “The Oyster Farmer”. Brendan’s knowledge, skills and keen sense of humour have made him a much sought after vocal / acting coach, and he is coaches many leading Australian theatre professionals.
Brendan is currently putting the finishing touches on his original musical “Unfinished Business” – due to have a professional workshop production in 2020.
